Georgia's Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit Programs provide high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses on a part or full-time basis while earning credit toward their high school diploma and a postsecondary degree. The programs also serve students seeking technical certificates or diplomas from the Technical College System of Georgia. Program courses are primarily available for any eligible high school juniors or seniors and in some limited cases freshmen and sophomores. Courses may be taken before, during or after regular school hours on the high school or college campus or online.

There are several facets of the dual programs that will help students easily transition from high school to college. Move on When Ready requires eligible juniors and seniors to be full-time and take all of their courses through an eligible postsecondary institution while remaining on the high school campus. For students who have identified a specific career path, the Articulated Credit program awards credits by both the high school and eligible college when the student successfully completes career related course work leading to a diploma, certificate or degree. Students enter into an articulation agreement in which the institution agrees to aid in a seamless transition without repetition of coursework mastered in high school. There are no costs for participation because the student remains on the high school campus.

The Early College program is another partnership between designated local school systems and the University Systems of Georgia. Several Early College programs in Georgia allow students to begin work on an Associate's or Bachelor's degree through the university system. Gateway to College is located exclusively on the college campus and the student completes coursework on the college campus instead of their high school campus. Lastly, the Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit programs offer a Residential Program for gifted, talented and motivated students exclusively through the University of West Georgia and Middle Georgia College.
