Mrs. Hernandez has been at Westside High School since July
2015. She served as the GEAR UP Graduation Advisor for two years prior to transitioning to be the 9th and 10th grade counselor.
Prior to coming to Westside, Mrs. Hernandez taught Spanish at Rutland High
School for eight years. During her years at Rutland High she served as chair for the
Modern Language Department, she was teacher of the month and a finalist for 2011
Rutland Teacher of the Year.
Currently, Mrs. Hernandez is the Lead Counselor and serves the
12th grade. In addition, Mrs.
Hernandez serves in the Teacher Advisory Council for the State Superintendent
since 2013 and was one of the finalists for the 2019 Bibb County School District
Counselor of the Year.
Mrs. Hernandez holds a BS in Psychology from Brooklyn
College (NY), an MSW from Hunter College School of Social Work (NYC), and an ED.
S in School Counseling from Fort Valley State University.
Mrs. Hernandez is a member of Georgia School Counseling
Association (GSCA), and PAGE.
